Waglan 12-14

The winds were good and competition fierce as 17 boats sailed for glory in the finals of the Waglan Series 2026. At precisely 1100, two IRC divisions powered away to round a windward mark and make for Castle Rock. Five minutes later, two PHS divisions followed in their wake, enjoying an easterly breeze of 10-12 knots. Great conditions for everyone!

The nine racing machines made short work of their reach to Tathong Channel Separation Buoy 2 and were soon back and navigating the channel between Beaufort and Po Toi Islands. The cruisers went around the bottom of Po Toi on a course measuring 15 nautical miles.

The PHS B division was won by the determined sailors of Rising Sun. After more than 26 nautical miles, the J/145C, Redeye, claimed Line and Handicap Honours in IRC Division A with Henning Mueller’s Zesst wearing the crown in IRC 2.

Yet another fantastic Aberdeen Boat Club keelboat series, rounded off by a prize-giving on Thursday, the 9th of April 2026.
